A complete conservatory renovation

The original Victorian conservatory had served the family well over the years, but they were now looking for the most thermally efficient space they could find, which is why they choose our single-storey brick extension.

We designed and installed a space that now provides two separate living areas for the family to enjoy. Structural steels allowed us to open up the rear of the property and create a spacious flowing layout between the house and extension, maintaining the traditional feel. The finished space feels bright, warm and welcoming thanks to the large Origin bifold doors and fixed glass roof lights that bring daylight deep into the home.

The perks of the fixed glass roof lights

Fixed glass roof lights are large glazed panels installed into a roof to bring natural light into an extension from above. Unlike opening roof windows, these remain fixed in place and fit this house perfectly. The slim aluminium frames allow for larger glass areas and cleaner sightlines. For the Belton family, this helped create a bright airy atmosphere throughout the day while still delivering impressive insulation and weather protection.

Beautiful bifolds

Bifold doors are made from multiple glazed panels that neatly fold and slide to one side when opened. The Belton family chose Origin aluminium bifold doors in Agate Grey RAL 7038, giving the extension a modern yet understated appearance.

One of the biggest benefits of Origin bifolds is how much natural light they bring into a home. Their slim aluminium frames maximise the glass area while the smooth bottom-running system makes daily use effortless. The system also includes a practical traffic door, meaning the family can use one section like a normal everyday door without opening the full set.

The benefits of the improved thermal performance

What does improved thermal performance actually mean?

Improved thermal performance simply means the extension is much better at keeping heat inside during winter and reducing overheating during summer. Modern insulated roofs, thermally broken aluminium frames and high-performance glazing help create a more comfortable living space while potentially lowering energy bills at the same time.

The Belton family’s new extension feels completely different from the older conservatory it replaced. The insulated structure now holds heat far more effectively, helping the room stay usable throughout every season. Modern glazing also helps reduce draughts and external noise, creating a calmer and more relaxing environment for everyday family life.
