Extended living space transformation

The Gallimore’s contacted Lifestyle Windows because they wanted to turn their old orangery into a year round usable living space. The family were tired of their extended living area being virtually unusable and wanted to transform it into a functional part of their home.

Located in Repton, Derbyshire, the Gallimore’s home is a traditional red brick property. The existing extension featured a dwarf brick wall which had been built using matching bricks to the main part of the house. Part of the renovation project involved removing the existing entrance door and bricking up the lower part of the area with a window above. The bricks had to be carefully sourced to ensure a uniform aesthetic.

UltraROOF tiled roof

To create a stylish and high performing orangery, the Gallimore’s chose an UltraROOF with Tudor overhanging corners and feature roof glazing to maximise natural light intake. The replacement soffits were finished in a light Cedar colour which is tasteful and understated and the overhanging corners create a unique appearance to the extension’s exterior.

The new tiled roof features lightweight tiles that are both stylish and high performing. With extremely low U-values, the UltraROOF provides excellent levels of energy efficiency and also creates a quiet and relaxing interior atmosphere with its superb acoustic insulating capacity.

Heritage PVCu windows and doors

For the new windows and doors, PVCu Heritage style windows were selected for their clean and crisp appearance, low maintenance levels, and outstanding thermal performance. Having blocked off the original single door’s location, the new French doors were installed on the other side of the orangery. The French doors were the perfect choice to open out wide and link interior and exterior living space and their location was chosen to optimise natural light flow.

The Gallimore family were extremely pleased with their newly renovated orangery. They are now enjoying their extended living area and have a greatly enhanced standard of living.
