For this property upgrade project, the Lifestyle Windows team travelled to the village of Ruddington. The Saunders family wanted to transform an old, tired part of their home, modernise it, and open up their home and garden. They had heard good things about Lifestyle Windows, and after discussing their project with our team, they were more than happy for us to complete the work.

Property upgrade in Nottinghamshire village

The village of Ruddington is located just five miles south of Nottingham city centre. With easy access to all local amenities and only a short drive from the bustle of city life, it’s no surprise that Ruddington has become a popular location for people working in Nottingham.

Ruddington’s history can be traced back to ancient times with settlements found as early as 1500 BC. During the nineteenth century, the Industrial Revolution brought the knitting industry to Nottingham and the surrounding area. A census from 1851, shows that over half the residents of Ruddington had links to the knitting industry.

In recent years, Ruddington has seen a number of modern developments being built. The Saunders’ home is a relatively modern property but required a bit of an upgrade to provide the family with the extra living space they wanted. To do this, we were required to carry out some structural alterations alongside installing some new Origin bifold doors.

Origin OB 49 bifold doors and supporting structure

To prepare the property for the new doors to be installed, some structural work was required. The Lifestyle Windows team prepared new structural apertures for the bifold doors, including installing supporting steel lintels and removing an existing internal wall.

Once the structural work was complete, we installed two sets of Origin OB 49 bifold doors. The bifold doors were specified in contemporary Anthracite Grey to create a stylish modern aesthetic.
