New structural opening

The first stage of this project was creating a new structural opening to connect the existing home with the new extension. This is one of the most important parts of any build, as it supports the overall structure of the property while allowing the new space to flow naturally. Our in-house installation team carried this out with care and precision, ensuring everything was fully supported and finished to a high standard.

We regularly complete single-storey extensions across the East Midlands, so managing complex structural work like this is something we are confident with from start to finish.

New single-storey extension with uPVC windows and an aluminium bifold door

Origin bifold doors

Bifold doors are large glass doors that fold back neatly to open up an entire wall of a room, creating a smooth link between indoors and outdoors. For the Ward family, we installed Origin aluminium bifold doors, which are known for their slim frames and quality British manufacturing,

These doors allow more natural light into the extension while keeping the space well insulated. The bottom running system helps them glide smoothly, while multi-point locking gives strong everyday security. The family now has a wide opening to their garden that feels effortless to use.

uPVC heritage windows

We installed Deceuninck Heritage casement windows finished in black uPVC, chosen for their traditional appearance with modern performance benefits. uPVC is a popular choice for homeowners because it helps reduce heat loss, which means the home stays warmer and can help lower energy use over time.

Casement windows are hinged on the side or top and open outwards, making them easy to use and great for ventilation. The Heritage range is especially suited to homes that want a classic look while keeping maintenance low and performance high.

Glass balustrades

A key finishing feature in this project was the glass balustrade. This is a strong glass safety barrier often used on balconies like this one, without blocking any view or sunset. We installed an aluminium handled system that gives a clean, modern finish while keeping the space feeling open and bright.

We choose aluminium and our specialist glazing, not only because of its strength, but also how easy it is to clean, so if your guests spill their drinks at your evening dinner party over your balustrade, there is no need to panic!
