The build-up of daily dirt can be easily removed with a cloth or soft sponge and some warm, soapy water. For more stubborn marks you can follow our tips listed below.
Wind, rain, pollution and traffic will all contribute to dirt building up on windows. General dirt won’t damage your windows but is unsightly.

We find that windows installed in homes in Nottingham in busy areas with heavy traffic and those near the sea need to be cleaned on the outside every three months. In quieter areas, twice a year should be sufficient.

uPVC windows

  • General cleaning
  • Use a soft cloth or sponge and a bucket of warm, soapy water to wipe down windows when they become dirty.
  • If grease marks are present, apply washing-up liquid directly, rub and then rinse with warm water.
  • Deep cleaning
  • Cream cleaner or special uPVC cleaner can be used on uPVC windows if they have a heavy build-up of dirt.
  • Lightly diluted washing-up liquid and a stiff fibre brush can be used on uPVC windows and then rinsed off with clean water.
  • Never use glass cleaner, kitchen or bathroom cleaners on the window frames.

Our windows are tough, but it’s important to remember that, in order to avoid damage and corrosion, you should never use the following tools or chemical products.

  • Any cleaning agent not designed for your window type
  • Caustic or ammonia-based cleaning products
  • Scouring powder, bleach powder or anything abrasive
  • Steel wool, scouring pads or any other cleaning pad designed to scrub off tough dirt

As a family-run business with over 25 years’ experience, customer satisfaction is very important to us. We are confident you will love your new windows and the improvement they offer to your lifestyle, and we hope you will continue to get as much pleasure from them for many years to come.
